At Beesands, in the South
Hams, South Devon, we offer you here something almost unique in this day and
age.... peace and quiet....
Assuming you have seen the directions page and can find your holiday home here are a few of the practical things you need to know.....
You can access your accommodation from 3.00 in the afternoon on the day of your arrival. We will advise you how you can pick up your key.
Beesands is a VERY quiet village, apart from the pub there is nothing there but houses, and a lot of these are holiday homes, so often empty out of season.

The nearest place to get a morning paper and pint of milk (along with a few other provisions etc.) is Torcross. To get to Torcross you can walk over the cliff path or round on the beach if the tide is out. By car it is about 10 minutes drive. To drive, exit the village (there is only one road) and when you get to the T junction turn right. Follow this road round the sharp left hand bend (***) and at the cross roads turn right. This road will take you through Stokenham and down to Torcross. The shop is on the right as you enter the village. There is free parking outside. (For an alternative pub as you first enter Stokenham you pass around a right hand bend with a turning on it, turn left here and The Tradesmans Arms can be found just up the lane)
((***)The brave can as an alternative, take the back road in to Torcross, at the sharp bend there is a turning to the right that will take you straight there, and you exit right by the shop, like a cork from a bottle! It is a great short cut.....until you meet something coming the other way!! The entrance/exit to this road is about 100 yards to the left of the shop)
On the video below you can join a Frenchman as he drives in to Torcross and the exits via the "back road" in the direction of Beesands
Picture below is of the shop, Start Bay Stores, Torcross.

The nearest supermarket is
Somerfield In
Kingsbridge. You cannot have groceries delivered to Beesands by any of the
major high street stores. There is a larger general stores at Chillington which
is about four miles away. To get to Chillington follow the signs for
Kingsbridge, it is on the way towards it.
For eating out, if you fancy an alternative to the local pub then there is a cafe cum restaurant in Torcross called The Sea Shanty. It tries to be all things to all men and never quite gets there, so it is neither an up market restaurant nor transport cafe, it seems to rest unwillingly somewhere in the middle, and is perhaps all the better for that! Everything from a morning breakfast to rump steak - and at great prices! It is heartily recommended!!
If you want to use the local buses to get about (recommended, the views from the
top deck are something to savour) then the best place to get one from is
Torcross. Although they do stop nearer, if you drive down to Torcross you can
leave your car at our B & B in the private car park for free. All we ask is that
you pop a note in the windscreen saying that you are staying at The Old Post
Office.
You
can read about the buses and our B & B on here
